“Fight for change? Thirst for difference?
Start talking what men avoid talking about.”
Aditi Gupta came down to the IIM-A campus to talk about her journey of spreading awareness about the taboo topic of menstruation. Aditi is the co-founder of Menstrupedia, a firm that provides friendly guide to healthy periods in a for-profit manner. She generates content and distributes it through novels and website. She’s sold more than 50,000 novels till now, and one day aims at becoming a portal to discuss and get accurate information on the taboo topic of periods. While her journey has been widely covered in mass media, and she has in past spoken extensively on the issue, she wore an entrepreneur’s hat for her talk at IIM A. Highlighting how a need for social awareness has opened up a business opportunity, she pointed out how while driving social change one can make good money as well. The audience that included many professors such as Ankur Sarin & Pawan Mamidi had much applause to offer as they had broken ice with their kids using these novels. As the talk progressed, enthusiasm of audience was highly visible. The room was brimming with ideas about how Aditi could scale this up significantly to ensure that even the remotest parts of the country can benefit from her novels. A few participants of Faculty Development Program (FDP) who were also in audience, volunteered to help spread the word in their native towns.
