Eloquence, the public speaking club of IIM-A, along with WLS had a discussion on 'Can Women Have It All' as a part of the 68th Eloquence session held on 28th June 2015. Ms. Sandhya Kumbakonam from Eloquence and Ms. Subhasree Mandagondi from WLS (find speech at http://wlsiima.weebly.com/voice/can-we-or-can-we-not) presented their take on this issue in the form of prepared speeches. Prof. Asha Kaul chaired the session and gave her feedback on both the content of the speeches and the style of delivery. This session was followed by a table top discussion with an extempore round. Candidates got a minute and a half to talk about issues such as 'Women should either be homemakers or earners, never both' and 'Can men have it all?'. The discussion touched upon some pertinent points such as striking the balance between motherhood and a career and the associated trade-offs, coping with feelings of guilt, the tendency of women to micromanage their households and different standards of perfection for men and women.
